Feb. 18, 2009 Meeting Summary

By webmaster on Apr 23, 2009 | In Minutes

  1. We discussed possible dinner meeting topics and sponsors. We now have 5 possible topics to work with for dinner meetings over the next year. These will continue to be held approximately every 3-4 months. The first meeting will hopefully be held the 2nd week of April and the chapter will sponsor this dinner! We will have more information as the details are confirmed.
  2. ;) Membership fees are due and will be collected at our first dinner meeting.
  3. :D The chapter would like to sponsor 2 members to attend the AANN meeting in Las Vegas at the end of March. This will be in the form of reimbursement of the registration fee of $445.00 (not including extra fee for national membership, if applicable) after criteria are met. The following criteria have been decided upon:
    1. active member of the local chapter
    2. member of the national chapter (or join when you pay the registration fee)
    3. organize a dinner meeting for our group, present a poster at the Neuroscience Symposium (Nov. 6th or 7th) OR present a case study at Nursing Grand Rounds (or similar venue at your facility or workplace)
    4. Write a brief synopses for our website (see below)
    5. The monies will be reimbursed after the criteria are met. There will NOT be a need to wait for reimbursement until after the November Symposium—acceptance of the poster for presentation will do.
    6. We DID NOT address what we would do if more than 2 people apply. If this happens, we will need to discuss criteria for how to choose the 2 best qualified recipients fairly.
  4. Volunteer work- we are hoping to volunteer at the MS Walk on May 2nd. Members from our group would help by handing out water, t-shirts, etc. Look for more information as it becomes available.
  5. The Website—I am told it can be up very soon. We will place the criteria for the AANN conference reimbursement on the website if the site is available soon. We also hope to have the ability for members to RSVP for dinner meetings, find out about upcoming events, and find an easy link to other events that are of interest.
  6. The Neuroscience Symposium will be held at the Resort at Squaw Creek on November 6th and 7th. Interesting topics include: neuro anatomy, epilepsy, stroke and telemedicine, EEG monitoring, spine, neuro-trauma, deep brain stimulation, and neuromuscular diseases. Mark your calendars for this exciting conference. For questions please contact Emily McClure at emcclure@renown.org

Please contact me at president@aann-nnc.org with questions. If you plan to apply for reimbursement of conference fees, please let me know. If you know of someone who is supposed to be a member who is not receiving e-mails, please have them get a hold of me.
Thanks,
Wren
